This session, jointly organized by UNIDO's Global Programme for Hydrogen in Industry and Women in Green Hydrogen (WiGH), brings together several leading female voices from the public and private sectors (including recruitment) to provide both strategic insights and actionable career guidance. The discussion concludes with personal stories from two women working in the hydrogen sector.

Recognizing the potential of low-emissions hydrogen and building on its vast expertise, UNIDO has launched a Global Programme for Hydrogen in Industry. The programme focuses on promoting local production and use of hydrogen in developing countries and economies in transition, aiming to build innovative industries and generate economic and social benefits for local populations.

During World Hydrogen MENA, which took place from 27 February - 2 March at the Address Dubai Marina, Nadim Chaudhry caught up with Petra Schwager, Chief of Climate and Technology Partnership at UNIDO. As part of the exclusive programme for the ISO TC 197 members, the UNIDO-ISO Strategic Planning meeting took place on 15 Nov 2023, titled “Innovation in hydrogen: How to accelerate innovation in H2 in developing countries through standards". This meeting was attended by over 150 in-person attendees and 150 online participants representing 62 countries, including 34 developing nations. The engagement underscored the importance of collaboration in addressing the challenges faced by developing countries in their strategies to accelerate hydrogen production.

The gathering was part of #ISO TC 197-#Hydrogen #Technologies Plenary Week, hosted by The Global Programme for Hydrogen in Industry of UNIDO. The meeting, on 15 November, brought together more than 150 in-person attendees and 150 online participants, collectively representing 62 countries, encompassing 34 developing nations. A Special Session - as part of the 8th Global Review of Aid for Trade

Petra Schwager on the UNIDO Global Programme for Hydrogen in Industry.

The webinar was organized on 16 March 2023 by the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) in cooperation with the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) and the Hydrogen Council. The webinar aimed to call for action in countries that are not participating in ISO Technical Committees such as TC 197 “Hydrogen Technologies”, to engage in international hydrogen-related standards setting. As such, the webinar seeked to collect insights highlighting the need for developing countries to build capacity and knowledge in developing international standards on low carbon hydrogen. The webinar addressed specifics on safety standards for built environment, road mobility, industrial applications and on conducting a methodology assessment for determining the Greenhouse Gas Emissions associated with the production, conditioning, and transport of hydrogen to its application.
